Cordant Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Our focus for Pinot Noir is to produce diverse, small-lot (100 – 250 cases) wines from ultra-premium vineyard sites. Such small-lot production allows us to highlight flavor and complexity differences driven by vineyard terroir and micro-climate variations that are so influential in their contributions to Pinot Noir. Few experiences are more interesting than a horizontal tasting of vineyards from such diverse locations! As a counterpoint, we also offer a Pinot Noir blend that shows unique complexity within a single bottle that is achieved when blending from numerous vineyard sites. Highlighted vineyard sites in our Pinot Noir program include the following:

Escolle Vineyard: Santa Lucia Highlands AVA (Monterey County)
Radian Vineyard: Sta Rita Hills AVA (Santa Barbara County)
Bien Nacido Vineyard and Solomon Hills Vineyard: Santa Maria Valley AVA (Santa Barbara County)
Spanish Springs Vineyard: SLO Coast AVA (San Luis Obispo County)

We produced our first Chardonnay in 2019 from the acclaimed Bien Nacido Vineyard, from which we were honored to receive a 96-point score from Robert Parker. We are excited to release our next vintages of Chardonnay from Bien Nacido, so be on the lookout.…

We produce a vineyard-designate Pinot Noir Rosé from Escolle Vineyard in Santa Lucia Highlands, purpose-picked to yield a crisp Provence-style flavor profile. While it is somewhat unique to offer a designated Rosé, its style is perfect on the patio, but also when pairing with elevated cuisine.

Cordant Rhone-Style Wines

Rhone-Style Wines

For our Rhone-style wines, we highlight certain exceptional vineyards as designate offerings, but we also offer blends that celebrate traditional Rhone styles. Rhone-style wines offer some of the most unique flavor profiles because of the diversity of the grapes grown indigenously in the Rhone Valley in France, and which also excel in Paso Robles and generally on the California Central Coast: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Counoise, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, and more…. We offer designate wines for many Rhone varieties: Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, and we also blend these varieties to create unique flavor profiles including our “Maniacal” GSM blend, but also Grenache and Syrah blends. Highlighted vineyard sites in our Rhone program include the following:

Coastview Vineyard: Gabilan Mountains AVA (Monterey County)
Escolle Vineyard: Santa Lucia Highlands AVA (Monterey County)
Wills Hills Vineyard: Willow Creek District AVA (Paso Robles)
Rolph Vineyard: Adelaida District AVA (Paso Robles)
ENZ Vineyard: Lime Kiln Valley (San Benito County)

We also produce a white Rhone wine called “Resolution” which is a blend that varies each year, but usually combines Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne into a flavor profile rich in texture but with enough “lift” from its acid contribution to easily compete with red wines at the table.
